In the three years that have passed since the release of As I Lay Dying’s last album ‘An Ocean Between Us,’ the band toured extensively, put out the three-disc DVD “This is Who We Are” and frontman Tim Lambesis somehow found the time to write, record and release two albums (one of which is a double-CD) by his side project Austrian Death Machine, which writes only songs about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s films.
But now, with no shows booked until April, As I Lay Dying are putting the final touches on their fifth full-length album, ‘The Powerless Rise,’ which is scheduled for release this spring. The band are working on the album with Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage), who also produced ‘An Ocean Between Us.’
During a brief break from recording, MTV Music Blog talked to Lambesis about the new record, Austrian Death Machine, the state of the world, becoming a dad and the band’s upcoming U.S. tour with fellow Christian metal band Demon Hunter.
